I learned a great lesson early in my coaching career from my head coach. He overheard myself and another young coach discussing a player we were counting on deciding to quit. He told us we needed to stop worrying about players who weren’t here and better start thinking about coaching the players who are here. I bet Coach Dez has that same mentality. It sucks that we are going to lose a couple of good players, but I have total faith that Coach Dez is going to take the players who stay and the program in the right direction. Like some of you have said already, this will ULtimately make the team stronger because the many who stay makes a much louder statement than the couple who leave.
……Des kinda was on that same note before the Bowl game when it was found that some of our kids might not play…..He mentioned the first thing about having players on the team that were great players that would play.well they proved Des and themselves were on the same page…. Geaux Cajuns!
What will the Ragin Review Podcast guys think about all of this?
Don’t believe that Waites had many people looking to sign him. He had one key asset, size. At the same time 372 lbs isn’t a number suggesting agility, quickness, and speed. According to a Florida source he spent almost two weeks in the transfer portal. Clearly N felt he had potential beyond size. Could well be Des felt different.
Coach Des tweet spesks for itself. I've been on the phone with several friends that are on coaching staffs and they verified pretty much what has been stated here in this thread. But this goes beyond what happened today, it's also about what happened right after the bowl game when Napier came back for several more support staff.
Two players aren't going to hurt this program that much with the talent on the roster. But what is worse is how Billy Napier has conducted himself in breaking his word to staff he brought in and Desormeaux, the man he called his friend. I heard that Des and Billy Napier had a phone conversation before he posted that tweet. I don't know the details but , I think we all get the idea from Coach Desormeaux's tweet.
I don't blame the young men who want to better themselves and by chance, if they felt like entering the portal for perceived greener pastures, then so be it.
I do blame the adult coach that presented himself as the humble, loyal, stand with your brothers, God abiding, do what's right kind of person that turns on the hand that fed him. It's one thing to have a type of coach, that comes in with a high powered name, does whatever it takes to win, and moves on pillaging everything and made no attempt to hide it. But to have a coach that presumed to take the higher ground, only to prove that he's a scumbag too. He did not have to offer these players. The right stance would be to let them go anywhere else, if they wanted out, but to take them from the program that you built yourself, to better yourself, is malicious to those that stood by you. Just wrong on many levels.
Agreed T.. We been hood winked by a wolf in sheep's clothing. F Naps.. like I said I will be a huge Seminole fan next year in the hopes his sorry azz gets ran out... Class is important. His cut throat crap to a program he just left is unforgivable. I hope he needs viagra and it don't work.
