It's sad how scholarships really don't have any value anymore. The NIL is the new scholarship for some players. The only way that I see the NIL situation gets restrictions is when a big time P5 school gets one or several of their prized players by one or more P5 schools and cries foul. Then they may demand changes. Until then, we're just a feeding trough for them to feast on.
Napier pulled Etienne yesterday, now has 5 of ESPN top 300. Same as tOSU. Like it or not, NIL or not, he’s doing what he was hired to do at Florida.
We need to just move forward. We have an example to the east, State just hates Saban. State couldn’t compete with the NFL at that time,
Not sure if it means anything, but Leger liked a tweet about leaving from an LSU WR
I’m going back the day the autonomous 5 told the NCAA to stuff it. Additionally the courts decided that the NCAA wasn’t allowed the rights to NIL of players.
This fall the NCAA stated they’re not going to oversee and punish universities. They can do that within the conferences.
So with the blessing of the the autonomous 5 the NCAA could reinstate a one or more year penalty on transfers. Not likely to happen.
I think that what might get some changes is if most P5 teams can’t compete with say Texas and Texas A&M in funding NIL. If the LSU’s and Alabama’s of the world can’t compete with the Texas Billionaire’s, then the NIL will be the devil’s work and changes will be implemented.
