These are crushing blows to a program like this one.

Every time a school like UL finds that diamond in the rough player they will get recruited through the TP and offered an NIL deal that UL simply can’t match .

I don’t think people realize how college football will never be the same again .
NIL very well can be a problem. Don’t think that the transfer portal is. Regardless let’s not lose our heads worrying about things we can’t fix.
We can do a better job of getting to games and travel to more games.

    Here is the counterbalance.

No one likes to ride the bench at a talent graveyard.

The benches of the P5 have been loaded with unused talent.

Just as it will be easier to poach our one great talent . . . It will be just as easy for the talent which was otherwise stuck in the P5 graveyards to escape . . . Probably could be as much as a 15 to one trade off . . .

    Let’s be honest .
What if they had the TP when Brian Mitchell and Brett Favre were at USL and USM and a school like Nebraska went to Michell after his freshman or sophomore season and offered him a starting job and lucrative NIL.

This would be very difficult to turn down .

Or maybe back when bama had those years where their kicker could not even make an extra point calling Brett Baer after his sophomore season and getting him to transfer with a 50k contract .

This is going to be a shat show that is going to separate the power 5 from the group of 5 to a level where it won’t be recognizable

    This is interesting .
I think this is also a possibility .

But the day will come when UL recruits the sunbelt freshman of the year then portals off to the sec

    It’s going to happen

And on the other side, what about Bama’s 3 deep of three stars all over the board who will not play a snap for a couple more years and not getting that NIL . . . Many will be out of there to a place where they will get substantial playing time and some NIL . . . Before, they had to give up a year of eligibility to move . . . Those are 15 to the one G5 star . . .

Well in basketball the conference POY last year entered the portal and has made a good tournament team play like krap. Things like that is gonna make teams more careful in the future. The portal is just new but it'll level out

We were supposed to miss them next year before the additions. Hopefully that changes now that it seems all 4 will be in the SBC next year.

If we win 8 games next year, will we consider it a successful season? If we make the conference championship and lose will we be happy? Is the bar set so high that Des and some non-Napier coaches will be held to the standard set by Napier?

I will be disappointed with 8 wins because we have quality depth to replace what we lose this season. Also, I see our passing game being a much bigger part of our offense which will open up the run game, less defensive players in the box. We should win the West again, though I believe the teams in the West will be improved. Not winning the conference again will be disappointing but not a failure of new staff.
