The sport is better off having one national signing day either first Wednesday in February or last Wednesday in January at the earliest. Let's complete the season first.
AGREE, the NCAA is losing control of college sports.

When the Autonomous 5 told the NCAA we’ll decide what rules make sense for us, and if you don’t like it we’ll leave. The end was near, and obvious. Schools like UL need to file an anti trust law suit. The Autonomous 5 have formed a cartel along with ESPN/ABC/Fox/ and NBC to carve up their markets to the detriment of the public. Additionally many of the biggest players are state funded universities.

The two best things for the G 5 that have happened in the last 10 years are the early signing day and the transfer portal. It would be even better if the ESD was in August instead of December. Neither UL nor any other G 5 has been poached of recruits nearly as much as they were before the advent of the ESD, and the transfer portal is good for everyone but a very few national brands like Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State [and it is neutral for them: they can just reload].

I disagree with the transfer portal being a positive thing for the G5. It might work out for some programs in any given year, but it hurts your program when your top athletes are allowed to leave the program to transfer to P5 programs without sitting out. Because the transfer portal has only been in place for a short time, we haven't seen it's full effect along with the NIL.

What does a signing day even mean if a player can jump in the portal at any time without penalty? Not much, IMO

Once he signs, doesn’t he then waste his one free chance to transfer without sitting a year when he enters the portal without even trying the team he signed with. . . .

Coaches leave, remove scholarships just because the player isn’t as good as they projected him to be. One free move isn’t asking too much. Once they sign a second time no more freebies.

The one free move as you stated is fine, it's for the the enticement for money that is the problem now with the NIL. It use to be illegal, now it's all public.

The only difference is it come in public as opposed to from a bag man. Rest assured, there was alway a bag man before the NIL.

Johnny Jones. Lost a bag full of cash. What on earth does a assistant basketball coach need a bag of money for?

I believe what you will see is two fold:

    a) "Coached up" 3-stars" portaling out.

    b) "Talent Graveyard" 5-stars portaling in.
