When the Autonomous 5 told the NCAA we’ll decide what rules make sense for us, and if you don’t like it we’ll leave. The end was near, and obvious. Schools like UL need to file an anti trust law suit. The Autonomous 5 have formed a cartel along with ESPN/ABC/Fox/ and NBC to carve up their markets to the detriment of the public. Additionally many of the biggest players are state funded universities.
The two best things for the G 5 that have happened in the last 10 years are the early signing day and the transfer portal. It would be even better if the ESD was in August instead of December. Neither UL nor any other G 5 has been poached of recruits nearly as much as they were before the advent of the ESD, and the transfer portal is good for everyone but a very few national brands like Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State [and it is neutral for them: they can just reload].
I disagree with the transfer portal being a positive thing for the G5. It might work out for some programs in any given year, but it hurts your program when your top athletes are allowed to leave the program to transfer to P5 programs without sitting out. Because the transfer portal has only been in place for a short time, we haven't seen it's full effect along with the NIL.

Coaches leave, remove scholarships just because the player isn’t as good as they projected him to be. One free move isn’t asking too much. Once they sign a second time no more freebies.
I believe what you will see is two fold:
a) "Coached up" 3-stars" portaling out.
b) "Talent Graveyard" 5-stars portaling in.
