He also didn’t get stupid like we’ve all seen veteran coaches do.

Bottom line not going to question him unless he actually fails. Billy was the guy who created this current team, but Mike was the master stone mason. Just can’t believe people looking to cra—p on him already. That’s not a fair critique, it’s wanting to be right in the hire decision. And right was almost anyone not named Mike.
WHO IS CRAPPING ON DES????? LoL! Seriously. Ive seen people voice concerns and maybe some doubt. Nobody is crapping on Des. Yall really need to calm it down.

His 'loyalty' is to himself; no one or nothing else. He does this for attention. It's not hard to see.
No names are listed, but everyone knows who you are talking about. Man ignore can be everyone best friend.

You couldn't be more right. I just went back through this thread and he literally rebuts EVERY single post, especially the ones he thinks are doubting Des when they really aren't. Does this guy have a job or life? Maybe he's just trying to pad his post count?

    100% agree but I AM
    cautiously optimistic thus far.
My only concern is that most of the rumors of those in the hunt to become His assistants all seem to have some sort of “UL connection”. That concerns me for the same reasons I was initially concerned in that he Appears
Only to have UL connections. As others have discussed recently regarding many of Napiers hires - he knew these quality people
From his days at Clemson, Alabama, and ASU and the connections he made in those places. More places coached, the more exposure to others and more opportunities -and a larger pool- to choose from.

Starting to learn that everything around here sucks a little, not just JMV . . .

Cajuns went 13-1 and our new coach passed his first test. Can’t ask for much more than that except maybe to re-run that Texas game now and see what happens.

Happy New Year to Cajun nation, the future is bright!

He's not putting together an intramural team with his buddies from high school! That's not how it works with this or any job search...heres a word for you... referals... as in Recommend someone. You build your own hiring tree with referrals and recommendations..

I would be very surprised if Napier personally knew all or even most of the people he hired or knew them very well. He might have known some of them by reputation but not personally. He relied on recommendations from others in the field. I think way too much is made of Des not having been at other schools. Might be helpful somewhat but hardly necessary.

Hypothetical speaking let’s say the knew coaching staff has in some form or fashion Tony Hull, Derek Keys, Lamar Morgan, Tim Leger, Matt Viator, Kevin Faulk and George Munoz, all guys with local ties and all who have been mentioned on other threads. Would you all be OK with that staff? Or is that to much in breeding for lack of a better term?

We should be ok with the staff he hires until such time as it proves not to work and there are no adjustments. We hired a guy to do a job. Can we let him do that job? And like someone suggested earlier, if you feel you are better at doing this job, make a suggestion here of who you would consider and I feel quite certain it will make it to Coach’s desk. Be a helper, not a cheese eater . . .
