Let’s hope the big 12 goes to 16 and we get invited to dance now.

I believe the two biggest impediment will be the athletic budget and the amount of fan support, especially for football games. Obviously R1 status takes care of the academic qualifications and the stadium renovation should take care of the facilities question

Seems to me the B12 could exact some revenge on the SEC by placing a foot print in Louisiana. Hmmm.

Support and budget would increase big time with that invite.

Chicken and egg argument, but I believe there would need to be a significant budget increase before Louisiana was ever seriously considered.

Right. But if they expand, can't see the benefit of adding another Texas team and why not put a foot in a SEC recruiting hot bed. ____off the SEC. It would be a calculated decision betting on the come.

Hey, at least it's not as far fetched as thinking about this years ago. Staying ranked the next couple of years would serve us well too.

    New stadium

    Being and staying ranked

    R1

    New airport

Good baseball program and stadium, top 20 attendance

National power in softball, good stadium and top 20 attendance

It does start to add up. But, it's just wishful thinking.

No, you are absolutely right. It’s still very much a longshot, but not ridiculous to think about as it would’ve been five years ago.

I’d guess we’ll be waiting awhile. Nothing for him to gain or declare an emergency so he can hold a presser.

Actually, both the baseball and softball attendance numbers are routinely in the top 10 nationally, not top 20.
