Thread: UL Commit Follows Billy to UF

Heck, CBN should go after the receiver committed to Cincinnati that plays for Westgate. Kid made a heck of a one handed catch for a TD. Brutal ending for Warren Easton, first and goal from the one with under 2 to go down by one, 4 tries and failed. When the coach had zero confidence in his kicker...

    2) Both Billy & Dez have said it's about evaluating the overall package, the fit, the work ethic, the intangibles, and from those, the potential. Rating services have tens of thousands of kids to go through, so they overemphasize size, speed (but not quickness so much, because that can't be measured), flashy stats, and players on winning teams. (Remember, Wuerffel won the Heisman, and he and Jake played together in Europe. Jake eventually advanced to the Superbowl, Wuerffel never made much of a splash.)

    3) Probably because they can't do a thorough job, sometimes the rating services have been known to drop a player's rating when he's seriously talking to a mid-major.

    4) Recruit smart, train players physically & mentally, win, repeat. The stars (like winning) are a by-product of doing it right.
    Spot on.

    Love the Danny/Jake resULts

Will be curious to see if they flip any. If so it might be a sign that the recruiting momentum is swinging back to the necks up north.

Well, it’s not like they did not lose their coach also . . .

??? How? What do they offer the kid?

"Hey, you'll get to start for us!"?

LTU has a few years before they are giving us much competition in recruiting... if they ever catch up.

Look at USM. I like that school, but they've been on the skids since, like, the Flintstones. And USM has a lot more resources, championships, and tradition than LTU does.

Their new coach can sell his offensive philosophy. Texas Tech has been a high octane offense for many years. CMD is still an untasted flavor. Plus they can play in a Zombie CUSA against????well somebody

T said they offered 6 of the Cajuns recruits. If they stay committed nothing to worry about. If they flip a few then that would be something to be concerned with. That’s all I was getting at will be interesting to see how it plays out.

That and very easy to negative recruit against our head guys resume if you are trying to down play our coach. Never called plays. Was only TE coach. It gets dirty and I’m sure they’ll use mikes resume as a way to influence the young lads.

Probably true, but the commits love him. Love is powerful. Now new guys might be a bit harder. We’re fine if the coaching is good. This isn’t an empty cupboard

Some questions will be answered this week. 12/15-12/17 early signing period. Not sure how many scholarships we currently have to give. CMD said a small class in one of the podcasts I believe. Thinking Billy first class was 12 in part due to the NCAA penalties we overpaid for.

    Or Louisiana's coaches!
