Pretty sure that play wasn’t called back. There was a thought of a slide then not. Watching it I’m good with that play. Others may see it differently.
Given how they protect the QB, I don't think a fake slide should be allowed. Defensive players would have to slow up to not hit a sliding QB. Allowing the fake would inhibit the ability to make a tackle.
Well, the NCAA has spoken. Ball is dead the moment the slide move starts. Non reviewable. So QB’s now have to be darn sure they’re past whatever mark they need before initiating the slide move.
That's a record fast decision by the NCAA. That might pick up their KPIs for the end of the year. Yet you still have blatant violation committed (..cough...aliceshoe..cough) and drag your feet for 2 years.
