My wife graduated from a small college in California, and they all tossed tortillas in the air instead of their caps. LOL. I think it's a tradition out west.

The SBC might take the G5 crown, but unless it either upgrades the bowl alliances it has or forces a change in conference opponents in those bowls, it will never change its perception. The AAC and MWC play P5 teams in bowl games while we as conference champs play the 3rd place team in the worse conference, CUSA. Just beating other G5 schools in bowl games and not even G5 conference champs or ranked G5 schools does nothing to improve perception of UL or the SBC.

Example - top teams in AAC and MWC, the 2 top G5 conferences. All wins by G5 schools (except Cincy)

    Cincy v Alabama
    UAB v. BYU (ranked)
    UTSA v SDSU (ranked)
    UCF v Florida
    Houston v Auburn
    Air Force v Louisville
    Utah State v Oregon State

CUSA is arguably the worse G5 conference, yet got UAB to play BYU and UTSA to play SDSU, both ranked schools, and neither won their conference. Since both UAB and UTSA won their bowl games against ranked teams, perception is enhanced for both and for the AAC which they will be joining.

This falls on the SBC, not UL. The SBC is making great strides, but for the SBC to move up in stature, it needs to set up its top team(s) for a higher level of success to improve it perception and that of its top teams.

Pretty sure SDSU wasn’t MWC champions, and they didn’t lose to Zombie CUSA UTSA. Still I get the point you’re trying to make. By the way UL beat UTSA last year, and UAB. That and SDSU a decade ago.

Don’t think that our commissioner and presidents don’t understand the need to improve our bowl agreements. Like Des, as coach I’m going to be a little patient.

I’m with you there. It’s no mystery that our tie ins are terrible and our good teams are missing out on chances to prove themselves against more notable and/or talented teams. They are hamstrung by our current deals, but given the opportunity they’ll lobby for something better.

The Mouse is building the G5 conferences. The big loser was Zombie CUSA. They spit on the Mouse and are being duly disciplined. Zombie CUSA will take some bowl hits and I believe that the SBC is the biggest benefactor.

SEC starts 0-4 in the bowl season. 3 teams losing to the G5.

    It just means more.

TT is in a coaching transition and Sonny is from the previous staff. Pretty impressive that he is technically head coach of two programs for roughly a 4 week period.

What you say is true but nothing will happen until the contracts run out which I believe is several years out. We must remember that when the current contracts were entered into the Belt was very much the weakest conference in Division 1football.
