The purpose of not rushing the field was for App to get off the field. That is the only reason.

Which is why I thought the announcement was confusing. Why did they say fans couldn't go on the field until both teams left? Why not just say, don't go on the field until the losing team leaves.

Also funniest part of the whole ordeal was the escorting of the Mountaineer mascot as students are pouring out the stands all around him.

I remember briefly considering rushing the field in 2003 after No-Miss-Ky Comisky hit a field goal as time expired to lift 0-7 ULL-Lafayette over 1-6 New Mexico State. Those were the days.
