It is also extremely useful in coaching on the college level, or even the pros. As college assistant coach you might not ever coach one side of the football, or special teams. As a high school coach, you are forced to gain a much greater comprehension of all sides of football which is priceless experience to have a coach at a higher level.

Being a great coach isn't about being an offensive, or defensive genius. It's about understand all of the fundamentals of football. I have said this all along about Billy Napier when people keep calling him an offensive coach. He's NOT an offensive coach. He's a football coach. He understands that some times you can't win with just offense. some times you can't win with just defense. Some times you have to win with special teams as well. That is the definition of a great coach. Someone who can win in all three phases of the game.
    100%

He is older than Sean Mcvay who coached in a super bowl. If he would have been with hud at north Alabama or cane with Napier from ASU like Rob Sale would his “experience” be that much different? Mike Is a smart guy, I don't think he would have accepted the job if he didn’t believe he was ready. The dude is a winner, you can’t teach that. These concerns everyone has are legitimate I guess but not sure how it concerns anyone more than the guy who hired him and interviewed him for 4 hours and watched him for 4 years, mike apparently alleviated those concerns to the guy that hired him.
    Great take

    Let's look:

    Glasco- Homerun (no pun intended)
    Napier-Homerun
Matt Deggs- time will tell, but even though he was hired by Maggard, this was kind of forced upon him under the circumstances. However, I believe Deggs will be another homerun.
Kristi Gray (volleyball)- Volleyball had one of its best seasons' ever.
Lon Badeaux (Track) - Another strong season.

MD- will see, but if Maggard says he is the man, then I have to believe MD is the man.

Did I miss any coaches hired by Maggard?
And no one is talking about how big of a risk this is for Maggard too..

I posted that this is probably not Dr. Maggard’s last stop so he, among anyone else in this decision process, has the most risk associated with the hire of CMD . . . Without in any way diminishing my belief that CMD was the best hire available, that was one of the fundamental reasons for believing in this hire . . .

I think it's the thing that gives me the most confidence this was a good move. I trust Dr. Maggard, and he has skin in this game.

Doesn’t matter what I think anyway. I just want what is best for the football team and the University. Personally Maggard, Savoie, Desormeaux. I have no connections to them, or know them personally.

What I want to see is the profile of this University go up, and I want to be the top University of this state and being able to compete with LSU or any other state University.

In that regard I am hoping the decision makers know what they are doing in raising the profile of our athletic department and University.

If Desormeaux has connections to this University it’s a plus but it shouldn’t be the deciding factor in him being the head coach.

The only deciding factor if he is the best man for the job and this University!

And for the millionth time, CBN, Dr Maggard and Dr Savoie have said/decided that CMD is the best man for the job . . .
