Before yesterday Levi’s YPC was at a staunch 2.9. He doesn’t run when he needs to. He makes awful decisions, cannot make short to intermediate easy throws. That wasn’t on him, that was on Napier. But, we won, so no wonder nothing changed.

Many games that where way to close than they should have been can be directly attributed to Levi being coached up to be a pocket passer instead of a dual threat QB.

SEC schedules games years in advance... but I would guess Napier would be glad to play us.

Home & home? That's a question for the bean counters: we'd have to pay them what they make staying at home, minus what they'd pay us for going there.

No problem then! Levi graduates and a good old CHS baw takes over!

    Geaux Cajuns!

I agree his TALENTS where above average for G5, but we never utilized those talents. Napier pounded that square peg into a round hole. And he got away with it time and time again.

That’s my only knock on Napier was for not seeing how misused Levi was. When everyone else without their heads up their asses could see it.

Not really a resume, but there is a pretty good history of his experience on the RaginCajuns.com site where there is an article about his hiring.

I like Des, but this hire from an optical point of view looks awful for us. It screams small time, when you look at it from 30,000 feet.

But hey, Joe Paterno was a ____ty hire at some point. So was Bo Schembecler & Woody Hayes. Time will tell. I trust Maggard.

And as for Levi…he’s the NFL’s problem now.

I hate that term “optics”. It’s either good or bad. And we really won’t know for a little while. I personally am surprised and was thinking he would be OC here or somewhere or a FCS coach first, but clearly Maggard thought he was ready.

I’m sure Maggard knew there would be doubts. I’m sure he knows it’s a little out of left field for those outside the program. All word from in the program is overwhelmingly positive.

You said that we had film that was 24 hours old that proved Levi was a bad quarterback.

Not only did that film show us that Levi (Suspiciously named the second best quarterback in the conference) outplayed the conference is newcomer of the year, but he did it for the second time this year.

I think your assessment of Levi is either painfully uninformed, painfully ignorant, or just simply biased in the fact that you don’t want to admit that you’re wrong in your assessment of him.

    But I digress.

A week or two ago, I started a thread about where we were going with regard to hustling up and bustling up, then holding the rope, and now living the #cULture.

My point being that we can’t change our direction for a fourth time with a fourth coach.

Whether or not it was read I even sent the same thoughts to the athletic administration.

I think Mike is what we wish for in all our fantasies: the local kid who gets hired to our alma mater, has success, and stays.

Mike played under a coach that I think jaywalker called and offense of genius (maybe I’m taking liberty with his description)

Mike coached under the turmoil with Hud.

And Mike was kept by Napier and has been there the whole four years.

I think Mike has some good bona fides. And maybe he just gets it.

    Yeah, it’s A risk.

But I’ll still see all y’all at Cajun Field next fall.

I was thinking the best thing for Des to do was to not get the job, leave and go do it elsewhere. If Maggard liked what he saw, let’s roll the dice and hope it’s not snake eyes. This could be a foundational hire for a long term successful head coach. It could be a wet fart also. I trust Maggard. But I think we need to have an extra pair of draws just in case.

Game I was at showed us go up on App State and then watched Levi struggle to be a QB letting App back in the game. He made good throws, and his run was a thing of beauty. Unfortunately he made way more bad decisions and terrible throws. That game should not have been close at all.
