Do you remember being the first to identify Napier as a potential candidate?

Vaguely, lol. I’ve been a high school football and softball coach in the area on and off for 30 years, so I have a lot of friends in the profession. I think one of them was tipped off about him by a recruiter and they told me because they know I’m a Cajun fan.

Guys, I’m not here saying I think Coach Cook should be considered. I just hate ignorant statements about a man that knows a lot of football and wanted to point that out.

Yeah, Coach Cook was OC 92-95. Those were Jakes years. They won more than a few games, including aTm. Its been a standing joke for at least 20 years. When UL needed a coach, Coach Cooks name was always brought up. The tradition continues.

Here is what I will say about Desormeaux. beyond his coaching skills and the like.

He is a flat-out leader.

I don't remember the controversy but somewhere around 2007 or 2008 (probably sometime after the McNeese loss) he registered on RP (I can't find his handle or his post) and anyway he made one long post answering every single question that had been raised and said this was his last post on the subject. ... and he was gone.

No other athlete did anything similar.

Here is something to consider……..What if Maggard has his guy and out of respect for Napier and to keep the players focused on the task at hand this weekend, he is waiting to announce it next week?

It is quite obvious that his resume here is quite more
extensive than you elude to above, otherwise two men much smarter than anyone here in football IQ would not have him at the top of the list to be our next coach . . .

He’ll get his interview like the 4-5 other guys then the best choice will be made. With the names floating around, Dez is not as qualified as them. I don’t care if coach Napier endorses him, but if Maggard does pick him then hopefully it will be the right one as maggard knows what he’s doing
