And if he checks all the boxes too and has more experience, why is Des a better candidate than Toney? Just because Des is a local boy? Thats really what this is about, is that he is "one of us". And that is why people feel like its USL'ing it. Because theres no 40 page thread on Toney, but there is on Des.

*edit - I also understand that just because I dont think he is ready, doesnt mean that he isnt. Shocking, but Ive been wrong before.
Assuming Jay Jonson applied. I’d also ask what boxes mike checks that he doesn’t? Jay was the coordinator here when des was a position coach. If the answer is simply mike was here with Napier. Mike won’t be able to come here and try to do some kind of role playing and be Napier. He has to be mike and do mike.

You are really opposed to CMD even being considered for HFC at Louisiana?

Come on, Dr. Maggard. Make me look smart.
If that works, please send him to my house next, Jay.

I want the best coach we can get here. I think at this point in life jay has more experience and would be a better HC right now. I do hope mike is head coach some day. I’ve watched his playing career since high school and obviously followed him as a coach. We actually went to the same high school. Great guy from a great family and i hope he is around our program for a long time. I would love to see him elevated to OC in the next regime. If Jay would get the job they do have a relationship so that could be a possibility.

I believe we all do and I have absolutely no solace in being right . . . I threw the thread out there about CMD because I had hard information and thought it would be really fun for Cajun fans to process . . . It worked magnificently . . . Of course until BWK got involved . . .

I will answer you seriously, Kyle. I have several guys I really like. I would be extremely happy with any one of them. In no particular order:

Jeff Lebby, OC at Ole Miss. He is a brilliant offensive mind and has been very successful as OC at UCF and Ole Miss.

Jay Johnson, OC at Michigan State. Another very good offensive mind whose offensive philosophy fits really well with current Cajun personnel. He has been here before and fits well with the culture; his offenses at both Minnesota and MSU have been multiple offenses based on a power running game.

Pete Golding, DC at Alabama: Learned from Ron Roberts at SLU and Nick Saban. Alabama fans don't like him much, but the Tide's defenses have been pretty darn good.

Dan Lanning, DC at Georgia. Has worked on the defensive side of the ball at Memphis, Arizona State, Sam Houston [where he was recruiting coordinator as well]. Has learned his trade under a couple of fairly good defensive guys in Mel Tucker and Kirby Smart. Georgia's D under Lanning is perhaps the best in CFB in the modern era.

Didn't really know about him at first, but someone mentioned Lanning a couple days ago. The more I read, the more I like the guy. He would be a really good fit IMO.
