The way CBN has always gushed about PT makes me hope the stars align and he is the next man up, and he just keeps this train going. But I'll trust Dr. Maggard in his decision.

Nothing against PT, but we can do better. If he were coaching at some other G5, I dont think he is on any of our lists. I dont want to hire a coach just because he's already on staff. We are a top 25 team now. We will have some of the best candidates in the country interested. I wouldnt put Toney in that class. At least not yet.

With graduation and attrition, coaches can almost always claim they came into a year or situation under the scholarship limit.

We need to also put into perspective next year this team will have to be re tooled at the QB,LB, and Oline positions… next year we should hope for 10 wins but expect 8-9.

Billy walked into a program on probation and reduced scholarships. He finally reached 85 last year. There was talent here, but stocked? There was very little depth left at that point.

I don't have a problem with Helton, but I think there are better candidates available.

No, we were on probation when he came in and had scholarship reductions because of the penalties. The transfer portal and the extra year granted by the NCAA helped him hit that number.
