He may be replaced after the Georgia game from what I've heard.

West division title should be our expectation every year. Also what kind of recruiting connection do they have down here because LA, TX, and Gulf coast are your bread and butter.
I think what Jay mentioned about past history and staying away from coaches that have been on staff at programs that have had controversy with the NCAA investigations and other matters will not be hired at UL under this president is correct. I don't foresee Dr. Savoie signing off on Lebby or Briles.

Let's remember something. We aren't looking for a coach to "fix" something which means we don't need to look at people with baggage. There are many high character guys out there that can come in and take a successful program and keep them successful or even add to it.

    We didn't fire a coach.

I would be very into it. Texas didn’t work out, but if he could replicate his work at Houston in Lafayette, we’d be in a great position.

Anyone remember when our AD had Larry Blakney on the hook ready to come here but our then president didn't approve because he took some blame for Pat Dye? Said president then hired Baldwin when we coulda had Blakney. Glad we have Doc Maggarad this time around.

Man, I just wanna say something. I f'ing love a good coaching search! This thread doesnt have the thrill of our last coaching search, but man oh man, is this one different. During our last search, none of us had any clue of where the next coach was going to take us in the next four years. I still have to pinch myself how far we've come. We truly found "the perfect" candidate to take us to the next level. And now that we are here, this next hire is even more important than our last. Its the search for the guy who will have to continue us on this track. Maybe the most important football hire in our history? Perhaps. But either way, the constant in the last hire and this one is our president and A.D.! They hadnt proved it before the Napier hire, but where we stand now....we know that they are the real deal. And what a difference it makes KNOWING we are going to get the BEST hire....the BEST fit.... that we can get. Soak it in gentlemen, we are living through the best times we have ever had! I couldnt be more excited about our present and our future! And couldnt be more appreciative having lived through our past! Its good times, boys! Everyone give me a hearty, GEAUX CAJUNS!!!

I mean as an Aggie, I think Mike elko feels right up Maggards alley. High character guy, young, will be snatched up by a big program soon. Only issue there is the deep LA ties but with a staff I think that could be solved. I’m also not opposed to Helton, I think a little air raid would be a nice change of pace and the guy clearly can do it as his offense is leading the country in all passing stats this year. Don’t know much else about him.

    Elko is an interesting thought.

Jay Johnson was pretty damn good over here.

I’d take Tom Herman in a heartbeat if he’s still hungry after that huge payout at Texas. That’s my only concern. If he’ll bring that same fire he had at Houston and he tried to have at UT, getting him would be awesome.
