Last I checked on Ticket Master before the game it looked like 3/4 of the stadium was sold for ULM. Seems fishy. If I buy a 40- 60 ticket, I'm going rain or shine.
Bingo. We are "new" to consistent winning. Even the first four years of Hud were followed up with 3 straight losing seasons which got us Napier in the first place. Let's see if we can maintain a decade of 8+ win seasons with a few more Top 25 rankings, and then we will see whether or not we can muster decent support.
I went to the game and the weather sucked…I manned up and have been through a lot worse, but I can understand why someone would have passed.
Maybe all these bad tv crowds will make espn back off putting us on the schedule so much. Then we can go back to Saturday games.. sweet. Haha.
I’ll say this, back too/still have a huge problem with people staying out tailgating instead of entering the stadium. That crap wears me out. I love cajuns sports but am not a tailgater. I walked in 15 minutes before kick probably passes 100 people walking out of the Cajun field parking lot!! And another 100 tailgating that didn’t look to be moving anytime soon.
If Billy’s gone, good for him. I pray his exit speech goes something like this. “ it’s not about the money or the SEC status, it’s the lack of fan and community support for this program.”
Three 10 win seasons and ranked 2 years in a row and can’t get 25k.
Exactly, people will drive an hour down the interstate to see LaSU but not 10 minutes down Johnston to see Louisiana. Until LaSU needs us on their schedule, ie Florida vs FL State, Ole Miss vs Miss. St, Alabama vs Auburn, Michigan vs Mich. St., OK vs OK St......, Acadiana will not fill this stadium. UL is not there yet, and hopefully the new coach will keep the momentum going and making this university a prominent fixture not only in the polls, but also in this state.
People in Lafayette don’t show up because it’s not the “cool” thing. It’s “cool” to show up at a Conference Championship Game or a Bowl Game, but it’s below them to show up to a regular season game. The cost of tickets is a b-s excuse. Family Four Pack comes out to $12.50 per ticket with a free meal voucher on top of that. Kids 12 & under got in free all year long! Recent grads can get season tickets for $55! There’s tons of deals when it comes to tickets and parking is free. Could there be better promotion of these deals, yes. However, the athletic marketing department has been gutted after the Covid year. The current staff puts in tons of work and communicates as much as possible with fans. There’s only so much they can do because most of the Lafayette area only cares about appearing “cool” to their friends and not supporting the university.

There are 478,000+ living in the Lafayette MSA. Do the math to put 30k in Cajun Field, it's too early for me to try...i guess we're to assume nearly all of them are from the oilfield and broke?
One good assumption is that UL has touched the lives of nearly each of those people in some way and in most respects has had a greater direct impact on their lives than LSU. How many students graduate each year from UL? Times 10? The numbers work in ULs favor. The football culture of this area doesn't. That has to change...
We drive 1 hour and 30 minutes(well not quite that long) one way to go to games in Lafayette from CenLA. It’s hard to understand why people in and around Lafayette don’t go to the games. It’s a gem to have UL sports in your back yard. We have nothing like it in Cenla anywhere or anything even close. Support UL athletics. That light rain yesterday wasn’t ____!
