Coach Napier's EXit

In The Athletic today, they went over all the hot seats in College Football. One of the spots was Va Tech and Justin Fuentes, and they mentioned Napier by name as being the person to watch here.

To be honest, this does make some sense. P5 job, Clemson looks very mortal, after that who do you really worry about in the ACC? Also, Blacksburg is a small college town, great place to raise a family.

Yes, I do think this is a more appealing job versus Ole Miss, Miss St, even S. Carolina. What I don't have a feel for is their AD and his vision. I think that has A LOT to do with Coach Napier still being with us.

I don't think Virginia Tech is on his list of schools, but he may listen. The one to keep an eye on is Florida. Jmo

Coach Napier's name is getting floated a lot in Baton Rouge now. He seems to be climbing the list of candidates there.

The fans from Basin-East want Napier for the sheer fact that it would mean we lose a good head coach. Doesn’t get more petty or trashy than that.

I doubt LSU would ever hire a head football coach from UL. They are just that arrogant.

Bret Venable at Clemson was roommates with Texas Tech’s AD in college, so I think that’s pretty much his for the taking.

The difference is their current AD, Scott Woodward. Woodward is going to swing for the fences as he did with Women's Basketball and Baseball. I think in the past you might have seen Billy on the short list, but I think Woodward is going to swing for names like Dabo Sweeny, Jimbo Fisher or even Mel Tucker and etc. He wants this to be a huge hire for LSU. I think Billy Napier is on a list, but it is a secondary list, not the main list. Just my opinion.
