I've been to games at three stadiums this season. UL, Nicholls, and Southeastern. The age old question is, why don't people show up for games and the complaint is usually paying to park or having to park across the street. Well, after being at the three stadiums I can compare and say all those people are just finding excuses not to show up.
Nicholls was a little different this season due to the hurricane. Their main tailgate area was full of tents for the National Guard when we went. We found a free spot to park which was about the same distance to the gate as my UL tailgate spot. Cost to tailgate = NOTHING! Usually have to pay around $10-$20 depending on distance but no charge because of the setup this season.
Southeastern is a national ranked team full of locals stars. I paid $25 to park right next to the gate, dropped my tailgate, pulled out the football, and tailgated for a few hours before the game. Cost to park and tailgate at the gate = $25! In Lafayette, people would protest if we tried to charge this.
