UL Football How far we’ve come

    10 seasons prior to Hud:
    3-8
    3-9
    4-8
    4-7
    6-5
    6-6
    3-9
    6-6
    6-6
    3-9

    10 seasons after Hud hired:
    9-4 Bowl Win
    9-4 Bowl Win
    9-4 Bowl Win
    9-4 Bowl Win
    4-8
    6-7 Bowl Loss
    5-7
    7-7 Bowl Loss
    11-3 Bowl Win
    10-1 Bowl Win

An amazing turn around from a perennial losing program to perennial bowl team.

I know this is common knowledge but sometimes it’s easy to forget and think it’s just happens. What an amazing time to be a Cajuns Football fan….

    5-6
    1-10
    2-9

    1-10

We had always talked about being a “sleeping giant” around here. For awhile, he was left for dead. Well, he has finally awakened.

What’s amazing is it’s been 10 years since the Hud hire. I remember exactly where I was when I herd his press conference. I was like the grounds crew on major league “who’s this Fn guy!!!”

Shows you how long it takes to turn the corner in College Football to consistent winning. It is a slow grind to get where you need to be. Lets keep the train rolling!

And don’t forget how easy it is to lose it. Remember when Troy was the cream of the crop in this league. Now they’re an afterthought. As hard as it is to put it all together, it’s so easy to lose it.

We have gone far in the last 10 years. It all started to turn around when bustle then got even better with hud. But now with Napier program has reached heights I would have never dreamed of before. Now the next hire is going to be the most important hire to date and thank god we have Dr Maggard to make that decision. Incredible hires in football ,softball and baseball so I know the program is in good shape with Dr Maggard running the ship. And also thank god for T Joe Savoie he knows athletics the the importance of athletics for a university.

Yes, those are the truly putrid years. The win-loss records may not show it but in my opinion the program took a much bigger leap between Baldwin and Bustle than it did between Bustle and Hud or between Hud and Napier.

I will always have respect for Coach Bustle and the way he basically resurrected the program. He came in with no resources and made our teams competitive. His only "weakness" was not getting us that 7th win. Other than that, he brought back fan interest and built teams that were fun to watch.

Also, here are some throwbacks to our 1-10 1997 season. It wasn't pretty.

Why would any cajun fan want to torture themselves by reliving that piece of history. I guess some would want to contrast with what is happening today to appreciate the current good times.

Those videos are a punch to the gut. It’s amazing how much the performance and perception have changed.
