Keith Gill is either a genius or an extremely fortunate commissioner. Neither is a terrible thing; I would take both.

I think it's more that no other conference wanted a Sun Belt team that played a fortuitous roll into the parlay that became a once in a lifetime windfall for the conference.

His silence and lack of media presence in promoting the conference around bowl time last year still irks me.

When the conference dust settled, he certainly delivered the 4 new members. So he deserves credit for that.

For the Sun belt to go from a lockdown -nothing worth picking- conference to a destination conference in a matter of weeks is nothing short of amazing.

That is ok, however such naivety will keep this place predominately a large bietch session one day after another. Lots of cheese to process and crow to eat.

Please be intellectually honest and give Jay the credit for asking the hard questions and soliciting answers to much of what is complained about here.
"lots of crow on many subjects needs to be eaten here" is miles and miles apart from "Dr. Maggard addressed almost everything in the kitchen sink."

Just because RP raised the questions first, has no relation to eating crow.

ps Jay always does a great job in my book.

This podcast was well done. I hope it does become a regular occurrence like it was on Birds Eye View.

I'll eat some crow, I will take breast and a wing please..

That said, Gill has a couple pieces of very important unfinished business......1) turn the Sun Belt into a 2+ bid conference in basketball 2) Our top 2-3 teams in football need to be aligned with MUCH stronger bowls in terms of competition level and payout.

Maggard kept referring to the P5 as “A5”. Did I miss something?
Anyway that was a great interview. Thanks for posting.

The other thing Maggard missed is the real reason Louisiana is having such a tough time finding opponents.

He admitting to having no BB scheduling experience before coming to UL, so I must think he got his knowledge from Marlin.

The reason Louisiana is having such a tough time finding quality home and away opponents is not because of UL possessing a winning record and the opponent thinking they might lose...

...rather the Cajuns lack of attractiveness as an opponent is because of Louisiana's historically low RPI, low strength of schedule and there being no ROE (return on experience) to boost the teams that might consider playing Louisiana, home or away, here or there.
