This is the same as flipping a coin one time and saying based on that flip the odds are 100% for or against heads or tails.

RPI has no starting point. Statistically it isn't anywhere close to valid early in the season.

So, are you saying the RPI is God?

Seriously......get a grip or at least a basic understanding of statistics.

Actually I’ve taken a few graduate level statistics courses, though it was 30 years ago, so I think I do have a basic understanding, though I’ve forgotten just about everything about multivariate statistics…. It was a joke, dude. Lighten up!!!!!

In Maggard we trust is a common theme by all on this board.

Well, it appears that this is true unless he bucks the agenda of some.

In the interview, Dr. Maggard admitted that he had no idea that basketball scheduling was so difficult at the G5 level until he got here. Then he went on to comment and explain and that explanation was a mirror of what Marlin has told us year in and year out about scheduling. Also note that from Dr. Maggard’s interview, you could tell that he has done a deep dive into this subject with Coach Fish and has come to the conclusion that it is what it is.

Be that as it may, some are here still whining about the same old things even after having been told there is virtually nothing that can be done and that basketball coaches manage their schedules with those limitations and with the goal of reaching 20 wins with minimal financial exposure for no appreciable gain.

If you did not get that from this part of Dr Maggard’s interview, please go back and listen attentively with an open mind as opposed to a mouth full of cheese.
All partially true. It doesn’t explain how so many of our peers actually find ways to get better competition into their’gyms’.

    But do they really . . .

Getting better competition into your gym is a value proposition.

Playing a team with a strong SOS and quality RPI is a valuable commodity to an opponent that cares, and they will travel to such places to fill out their schedule.

So you think that Dr. Maggard was BS’ing all of us in the interview to cover for Coach Fish?

They have to improve the OOC home and away schedule to get any intrest up.

If you listened closely to Dr. Maggard's explanation, he was simply saying that fixing the quality of UL's basketball schedule was NOT just a cold call away.

He did, not address how to change that parameter.

Me: It can't be fixed in a single season.

Yes really. I’ve seen better teams visiting GSU, stAte, USA and others. Not every year for those teams, but every year from what are considered mid majors vs objectively better teams. Marlin is zero for his tenure here. It’s an unfortunate truth about where we are.

Except that they don't. Certainly not on a regular basis. Willing to be proven wrong. I have looked at this, not exhaustively, but in some depth, and I see few if any teams scheduling tougher home games as a matter of course.
