That said, Gill has a couple pieces of very important unfinished business......1) turn the Sun Belt into a 2+ bid conference in basketball 2) Our top 2-3 teams in football need to be aligned with MUCH stronger bowls in terms of competition level and payout.
The Commissioner cannot turn the Sun Belt into a 2+ bid conference in basketball, and, frankly, with the new NET rankings taking the place of the RPI, I question just how many leagues can get more than one bid. Keith can suggest scheduling criteria but that's going to cost money that schools either don't have or are unwilling to spend on basketball. I think the only thing schools can do right now is to schedule guarantee games you have a chance of winning. And, of course, road wins are big.

As far as the bowls are concerned, you aren't going to see the Sun Belt get bowls against A5 competition. At least not like you are hoping. But you're going to see the Sun Belt probably go up to seven tie ins. I would imagine with our moving up to near the top of the G5, you'll see better G5 vs. G5 that include the Cajuns, either vs. ACC or MW or both.

But I'm going to continue to say geography is important here as far as bowl locations are concerned.

He fixes SBC basketball and I’d say he would be a HR hire. Especially after realignment.

Just curious. How can he fix SBC basketball?

Lol, just an old cartoon from the 80s that's still going on now where whoever collects all the dragon balls is granted a wish.

By setting up SBC vs AAC/A10/MVC/MAC deals. That is done at the commissioners office and not individuals AD’s.

    Unless I am mistaken.

Thanks. Did not the conference try something like this a few years back? Cajunsmike, you're up.

I’m hoping something like this can be set up. I want to see the SBC become a league that can possibly get an at large bid every other year or so. But with our scheduling it’s not even possible to get a 9-12 seed.

I took that as him just being humble, which if you know him, is spot on.

I've never hear Marlin called a jerk.

I only know that the main focus of teams that UL should be courting isn't scheduling teams they can beat.

Instead they want to schedule opponents that will boost their RPI, give them a ROI and ROE, a return on their experience

UL is so busy scheduling down, it makes them unattractive when they try to schedule up.
