Maggard kept referring to the P5 as “A5”. Did I miss something?
Anyway that was a great interview. Thanks for posting.

The other thing Maggard missed is the real reason Louisiana is having such a tough time finding opponents.

He admitting to having no BB scheduling experience before coming to UL, so I must think he got his knowledge from Marlin.

The reason Louisiana is having such a tough time finding quality home and away opponents is not because of UL possessing a winning record and the opponent thinking they might lose...

...rather the Cajuns lack of attractiveness as an opponent is because of Louisiana's historically low RPI, low strength of schedule and there being no ROE (return on experience) to boost the teams that might consider playing Louisiana, home or away, here or there.

P5 is not the real term for them its "automatic qualifying conferences " or AQ / A5

    A-5 Autonomous 5.

Phrase has been used a few times over the past few months.

I guess I need to pay attention more. I’ve never heard anyone use A5 until today. I’ve heard automatic qualifiers.

Compare our AD's response to a question about CUSA to the dog killer's AD's response to a similar question about the Sun Belt. Pro vs douche nozzle

That said, Gill has a couple pieces of very important unfinished business......1) turn the Sun Belt into a 2+ bid conference in basketball 2) Our top 2-3 teams in football need to be aligned with MUCH stronger bowls in terms of competition level and payout.
Very good points. I am not convinced one way or the other with Gill so far. The conference expansion performance has garnered him some benefit of the doubt, but still a lot of work to be done to take advantage of it.

Could it also be that Marlin has soured relationships with many other coaches due to the fact that he is perceived to be a jerk?

The one thing I’m sure of is they don’t fear losing, but the consequences of losing to a consistent non quality program.
