It would have to be a contracted agreement where schools from multiple conferences are paired according to their average RPI rankings for the previous few years.

It could work. You just need Conference Commissioners with the leadership skills to get it done.

Why can’t some on this board face reality with respect to basketball scheduling . . . It’s a bietch and Dr. Maggard confirmed it with detailed analysis.

In Maggard we trust is a common theme by all on this board.

Well, it appears that this is true unless he bucks the agenda of some.

In the interview, Dr. Maggard admitted that he had no idea that basketball scheduling was so difficult at the G5 level until he got here. Then he went on to comment and explain and that explanation was a mirror of what Marlin has told us year in and year out about scheduling. Also note that from Dr. Maggard’s interview, you could tell that he has done a deep dive into this subject with Coach Fish and has come to the conclusion that it is what it is.

Be that as it may, some are here still whining about the same old things even after having been told there is virtually nothing that can be done and that basketball coaches manage their schedules with those limitations and with the goal of reaching 20 wins with minimal financial exposure for no appreciable gain.

If you did not get that from this part of Dr Maggard’s interview, please go back and listen attentively with an open mind as opposed to a mouth full of cheese.

Louisiana can schedule differently than they do.

    Just 2 games in.

GA Southern has an RPI of 3
Louisiana has an RPI of 251

Makes no sense about Ga Southern. Ball state and UCF are not powerhouses.

This is the same as flipping a coin one time and saying based on that flip the odds are 100% for or against heads or tails.

RPI has no starting point. Statistically it isn't anywhere close to valid early in the season.

So, are you saying the RPI is God?

Actually I’ve taken a few graduate level statistics courses, though it was 30 years ago, so I think I do have a basic understanding, though I’ve forgotten just about everything about multivariate statistics…. It was a joke, dude. Lighten up!!!!!
