Thanks for not giving up on bringing two legacy players home to their roots.

I was very sad when Jordan Brown chose to play at Nevada, I think. It took coaching decisions, and a pandemic but he’s home. Kobe Julien through no fault of his own has been hampered by injuries. He looked quick, fast, and strong last night.

Keeping the welcome mat for Brown, and sticking with Kobe was a class act. I’m sure both players will be better people and players because you do improve players, and do teach life lessons.

Jordan Brown and this Cajun team are going to be a lot of fun to watch this season. We have a lot of length and athleticism.

If we can improve on outside shooting, this season will be fun. No one in the sunbelt will be able to gaurd brown without double teaming. That should leave the perimeter players open.

3 point shooting will be fine, Greg Williams shot over 40% from 3's last year at St. Johns and 34% the year before that. Garnett shot 34.5% for us last year and will only get better as he gets more comfortable as a D1 player. Ty Harper shot nearly 36% from the 3 point line last year and while Kobe Julien does not take a lot of them, he has a really smooth stroke. Dalcourt shot 35% for SJSU last year. We will be fine once everyone starts hitting them. I am not concerned about that. The key is going to be getting the ball inside and opening up wide open shots for our shooters. They will knock them down as the season goes along.

That is a great way to increase attendance. Not only in basketball, but all sports. Have home grown studs playing and the moms, dads, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, teachers, friends of the familywill all come out to support and see their local stud and cheer them on.

Dalcourt was our best perimer shooter at Alabama and also did well in that regard in the Nicholls scrimmage. I think he had a case of the yips early last night due to playing in front of family at home for the first time since HS. I expect him to him to be more consistent going forward. For those who think he may have been a little quick on the trigger last night, keep in mind the coaching staff wants him to look for his shot. That is what he was recruited for. Garnett was rewarded for his efforts at practice over the summer and fall. During that time he had the highest three point percentage of anyone on the team and he rarely makes mistakes. As far as the two legacy players go, Coach Marlin has a good relationship with the family of both players. That was somewhat facilitated by his relationship with Bobby Paschal as Coach Paschal was the coach of Wayne Julien and Dion Brown. Jordan Brown went to Nevada out of HS as they were doing well at the time and it was close to his California home. He left Nevada for Arizona after a coaching change and wanting to play at the "P5" level. Once a coaching change and probation hit Arizona, he finally took his Dad's advice who always thought he would do well here. Express is right in that Kobe was always headed here and the coaching staff was always confident he would eventually be healthy. Hopefully the illness that kept him out of practice a few days before last night is not a serious issue.
