IOTA – A tornado briefly touched down just south of Iota Thursday morning as a frontal system moved through Acadia Parish.
The twister struck several residences on Cattail Drive and Fabacher Road at near 7 a.m. Trees were severed or uprooted and playground equipment was strewn throughout the area.
Acadia Parish Detective Denis Fruge was one of the residents who felt the effects of the storm. “I was just waking up when the electricity went out. I then went to my back patio door and it was raining so hard the wind was pushing the water in my back door,” he said.
