A strong line of storms tore through parts of Jeff Davis, St. Landry and Acadia Parishes early Thursday morning, leaving a trail of damage.
Several Iota families had a startling wake up call early.
"I told the wife and the baby, y'all get on the floor, it's coming," said James Andrus, who lives on Cattail Road.
The most severe winds swept in just before 7:00am.
"When I opened my door and looked through my glass door, this was one giant white cloud-- I could barely see anything because of the winds and leaves hitting me, said Andrus.
"It happened so fast-- a blink of an eye and it was gone," says his neighbor, Mack Mulkey.
Mulkey's yard was torn up, windows broken, chicken coop damaged and jungle gym thrown around.
Two doors down from him, one car was damaged when a car port was torn off of its hinges and fell, and another car was crushed when a tree fell after being struck by lighting.
No one was injured.
The next step is meeting with insurance companies to hopefully recoup some of their losses.
