Julian Brock opened up a 13-hit attack for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team with a solo home run and sixteen pitchers combined to fan 23 batters over 13-plus innings in a 7-4 win over Northwestern State in a fall baseball scrimmage on Sunday at M.L. Tigue Moore Field at Russo Park.

The teams played a seven-inning game with Louisiana outscoring the Demons, 3-0, before resuming play with a six-inning contest. Three pitchers – Austin Perrin, David Christie and Cooper Rawls – combined to strike out five batters after the 13th inning.

Bobby Lada drove home a pair of runs for Louisiana, which was playing the first of two scrimmages during the fall. Beginning with Tommy Ray, the Louisiana pitching staff held the Demons hitless until Larson Fontenot reached _on an infield, two-out single in the seventh.

Brock belted a solo home run to left field in the third inning off Northwestern State's Drayton Brown before Lada drove in Carson Roccaforte and Heath Hood with a bases-loaded single to left in the fourth.

Newcomer Dylan Theut struck out the side in the fifth inning for Louisiana with Perrin, Rawls, Drew Shifflet, Caleb Reis and Bo Bonds each fanning a pair of batters in their respective inning on the mound.

Back-to-back ground-rule doubles by Austin Kelly and Jonathan Brandon in the second inning of the afternoon helped Louisiana to a 1-0 lead in the six-inning contest with Max Marusak and Will Veillon each scoring in the fifth inning and Warnner Rincones adding a run in the sixth.

Louisiana, which will end fall practice on Nov. 14, will return to practice this week in preparation for the Fall World Series, which is scheduled for Nov. 5-7. The Ragin' Cajuns will wrap up fall drills on Nov. 14 with a scrimmage against LSU at Alex Box Stadium.
