Thread: Coastal in a Bowl?

  1. #1

    Default Coastal in a Bowl?

Let’s just say UL, App, and CCU win out in the regular season. Then we beat App again at home to win the conference. Assuming a NY6 snub, how cool would it be to play CCU in the NO Bowl? It would take some orchestrating, but that is a match up that would move the needle!!

Probably not. But there is a 0% chance you know for sure.

I would be shocked if ESPN allowed this to happen. Outside of CFP, where is another example of a bowl game having two representatives from the same conference? I cannot think of one, ever.

Sugar Bowl used to invite 2 SEC teams often and LSU played Tennessee in the Bluebonnet bowl in the 70s.

ESPN controls the bowls. They can make it happen if they want to. It would make for an outstanding closing game for the opening weekend of bowl season. This year the NOLA bowl is at 8 CT

There is no benefit to Louisiana, Coastal Carolina or the Sun Belt Conference to do this. Why would you not want to play one of the Conference USA teams that is getting ready to move to the American Athletic Conference?

Not happing with bowl tie ins.

It has happen only twice since 1979 and there was so much blow back doubt it happens again.

If we could play a undefeated or 1 loss UTSA I’d be down with that. But if it’s against a 7 win Marshall or a 6 win AAC team?

So 35+ years ago is your most recent example, when Nixon, Ford or Carter was president. Yea, let's not go back to those times, please.

ESPN / bowls their chance last year. It would have been perfect because the bowl season was so crazy with cancellations and back filling teams that either dropped or refused invites. If it didn’t happen then, I can’t imaging it’ll ever happen.
