I know what I posted isn’t what will happen. That’s just what I’d like to see. A QB who comes in, learns the system. Has three years to develop, improve and adjust to the speed of the game. So when he is called upon to be the starter it is a seamless transition.

That would definitely be ideal.

Same with the NFL now. You end up paying a 1st round drafted QB so much money, if the veteran he's supposed to be learning from and watching has the team at 1-3 after four weeks, HC's feel the immediate pressure to start the rookie next game.

Guys like Mahomes and Rodgers had it perfect for their situations. Guess like Alex Smith and Trevor Lawrence barely stand (stood) a chance.

This above is the kind of QB discussion I've been hoping to find eventually on here. This was actually very informative for me, because I knew little to nothing about Fields or LL2 prior to them arriving on campus.

What C4L laid out above, I agree, would be ideal in a QB plan, but like Rick has pointed out, not sure if those athletes these days are going to sit and wait with the portal available. Bummer, because it would give time to groom guys, but this is the current situation college coaches find themselves in these days. Look at all the players we've been getting in the portal for softball.

Look for the softball transfers to slow down alot compared to previous seasons.

I didn't get into this subject earlier, but you are spot on. I had the opportunity to talke to CBN in August and said, "what are you going to do with 8 QBs on the roster?". He replied, and I'm paraphasing, "this portal option means you need more of them, just in case". I know CF is in his 3rd season and if he doesn't win the job, he'll be down the road with my guess being SE or Nichols....or if they don't have to sit going to another FBS school, likley to one of the schools who recruited him in HS. LL2 had 24 D1 offers, 4 from the SEC including Bama and Georgia. Dude will skate if he's not QB1, and he will have multiple options for his choosing.

My prediction is lightly based on what I've been told way back in August, but largely based on what I've seen on 247, skill set, athletic ability and Billy's ability to develop QBs. So, nothing more than an opinion. CBN needs to be here next season as well.
