Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns worked for two hours on Wednesday afternoon and now have just two spring practice dates remaining. The team has a no-pads practice scheduled for Friday afternoon before ending the spring with the Annual Spring Game on Saturday at Cajun Field at noon.

Admission to the Spring Game is free and all fans will receive the 2010 football pocket schedule. The format of the game will be the offense against the defense playing nine minute quarters. Roster cards will be supplied to fans as they enter State Farm Gate A.

Wednesday’s work consisted of 40 minutes on the practice fields before moving to Cajun Field. Once inside the stadium, the Cajuns worked on pass skeleton and live drills. The live drills were of various situations that included first-and-10, third down, red zone, goal-line and two-minute drill.

“I thought the offense took a step back today,” assistant head coach/tight ends coach Troy Wingerter stated. “The defense played smart and fast and the offense wasn’t sure what to do.”

The offense was limited during the live work, as five wide receivers were held out due to injury. The encouraging news came in the backfield, as both Julian Shankle and Rob Walker returned to practice. Each had missed several practices, including last Saturday’s scrimmage.

“We were without several key wide receivers and the running backs came back, but were in limited roles since it was their first day back,” Wingerter added. “I’m not making excuses for the offense, because the guys we have out there have to make plays.

“The guys on offense have the want and they’re trying. Nobody is coasting through the final week. You can see the urgency, but we are thinking too much, not reacting.

“The defense is playing at a different level right now. They are confident and playing inspired football. The offense has been inconsistent all spring.”
