General idea....Start thinking about and treating your school and athletic department like the major program it should be.

As supporters that means giving more and demanding more.

As an athletic program, it means better conferences and better scheduling. The worst thing we can do is schedule down. If we don't associate with the schools we want to be like in our present conference, then do so in your non-conference schedule.

I've have always believed that P5 status begins in the mind. You are who you think you are.

Great place of mind to start.

Next, from a position with some leverage, you start pressuring Baton Rouge to play. Then you beat them.

THEN you need the legislature to continue the series when LSU&A&MC refuses.
I think the better competition we play, the better conference we are affiliated with, the better facilities we have, and the more we continue to win will get people to believe, care, invest and attend. And, when they do attend, we need to make sure they have the right experience that will keep them coming back.

This was fantastic! So much of what he mentioned are topics that have been discussed on this board for the last so many years. He made too much sense! The football schedule needs a serious upgrade, while our "casual fan alumni" need a swift kick in the azz to support this athletic program and not the one in Red ____. But, that goes back to giving those folks a good enough reason to attend games and give money. Those reasons have not been communicated well or often enough.

Well said. However as we rarely play LSU, competing with them is really in the market place. We have to improve the entertainment value of our product. Lots of work going towards that in recent years so we should be encouraged in that regard. As far as giving the alumni and locals a kick in the butt, that is counterproductive. Have to take a soft but determined approach here. Demonstration of the benefits of supporting us vs other competition is where focus should be.

Wasn't thinking we'd hit them over the head, but there is no sin in being aggressive, competent, and diligent when it comes to messaging casual alumni fans...

But, but, but, that is just not how things are done here on RP - only the swift kick in the butt will work.

Did you really let 2 or 8 people on the entire forum help you come to that conclusion?

Exactly. We’ve taken the “soft” approach for way too long. I can guarantee you that Baton Rouge and Ruston didn’t take the “soft” approach when they worked to keep us down for all these years.

There is a time for diplomacy and there is a time for aggression. The time for the latter was yesterday.

Wow! What a pod cast. This guy knows what he is talking about. He is bold and thinks outside the box. He hit the nail on the head in so many ways for this program and the potential it has.
The more we win and get kids, families, students to games now. The more it will pay off down the road. Those kids will be molded to support the Cajuns down the road. Those students will bring their kids and instill the Cajun fan in them just as most probably we all did or are doing now. Cannot wait for that Cajun Field renovation.

Soft no more. I am tired of me and my boys and a few friends standing up and hollarin' at the games on 3rd down for the defense and everyone sitting down looking at us like we are crazy. Come on people!
Since when are Cajuns soft? Get hard, get into the games! 35K at Cajun field Tuesday Night vs. App!
    Lets Geaux!

Trust me they feel us nipping at their heels... They will NEVER admit it but if you spend any time on Tigggerpoop you will see the vitriol against us that you don't see against any other in state school. They realize our goals and ambitions might... just might... come to pass... It may take 15-20 years but they are worried

Again they will never admit it

When you speak of competing with LSU head to head and being a rival. I truly believe the last piece of that puzzle is football.

Continue to be a rival in baseball and softball. We HAVE to start winning more against them. It’s a must. In softball a Natty would do it. It’s possible for us too.

In baseball just getting into a regional is no longer good enough. It should be expected that we schedule and perform to a level that we are in contention to HOST a regional. Win that region and expect to make it to the Supers.

Basketball…..well….honestly we are a basketball school. Just seems like the Acadiana area, administration and fans forgot that we were a basketball school.

Finally on to football. One thing you constantly see from this program over the years, struggling to consistently perform to our capabilities. We rarely ever play up to our potential. Or we just flat out crap the bed anytime there is excitement around the program. Either we lay an egg or the game day experience is like pulling teeth. We have to fix that before we take on the giant tiger in BR.
