LSU’s non conference schedule is ULM, Tx State, McNeese, Liberty, and Belmont.

Do we really want to pay Liberty and Belmont to come play at our gym? Would that really move the needle for us?
Yes. Both are quality basketball programs.

    We have all the disadvantages.

Won't step in the dome until he is gone... after the football comments he made

I agree, but the next question is how do we pay for them? I’m pretty sure we don’t have 50-100,000 in the basketball budget to pay them.

And just for the record, I’m as bummed about our OOC home schedule as the rest of y’all.

Just remember, P5 and AAC schools won’t schedule home and homes (or even 2 for 1’s) with us, and we already have home and homes scheduled with LaTech and USM.

Who else is left besides Southland and SWAC schools?
Middle, uab , UTSA , southern Miss , SFA, Rice ...want to keep going

Middle and UAB are more than a bus ride away.

UTSA, USM, and Rice are definitely not quality basketball programs.

I’ll give you SFA — they have been quality. So that’s one…

All those teams move the needle more than UNO, Jackson state Louisiana college and the univ of the Congo

What is the univ of the Congo?

Also, honest question. Would we get enough additional ticket sales to offset what I imagine would be a higher payout to UTSA, USM, or Rice... assuming they even want to schedule us? A quick glance at those three home schedules shows pretty much the same caliber of visiting teams as Louisiana.

Could it be that, with few exceptions, mid-level basketball coaches deliberately choose a soft OOC home schedule to save money and pad the W-L statistics?

Why all the discussion about payouts?

A less than half decent negotiator will get a Home-n-Home.

Assuming they want to schedule us. Again, look at the home OOC schedule for the three teams mentioned by the previous poster. There is no indication from their schedule that they would be interested.

After 11 years Marlin still can't get good teams to the Cajundome. That is on him. If he had developed good teams year in and year out and made a little noise in the ncaa playoffs then other teams would be wanting to come to Lafayette.

A big school isn't doing a home and home with UL. UL rpi and sos is always bad.

And yet. the home OOC schedules for almost... almost... every football playing mid-major does not indicate that.

Like Marlin, you are thinking like it's a one way street.

Schools would love to have you over so they can beat you at home and return the trip so they can beat you again.
