FB Final: Louisiana 27, Nicholls State 24

I just went back and watched the game again. We had some friends over and I had the game on in the background, I mean it’s Nichols so shouldn’t have been close. I actually turned the game off when we went up 17. I’m not going to go all game film geek but here’s what I saw with less adult beverage fogged eyes.

Special teams was good. Only little snafu was the punt they downed at the one. Other than that, which was just a good play by them, we did good in this facet.

Defense was pretty solid. We gave up 24 points which in modern college football will win more than it loses. The open receivers in the middle of the field were concerning. Obviously, a running QB gives us fits. We held our own against a pretty good QB and receiver combo, but I would have like to see a game plan making their other players beat us.

Offense, we’ll it just sucked. Levi did his thing and missed some passes, could have run more, there were some bad passes and some dropped. The last MAJOR concern of mine is our Oline. This was supposed to be our most solid unit and the first two weeks they just sucked. For me, not wearing down an FCS D line with our “supposed” road graders is just unacceptable. We’re supposedly so deep and great but their D line ate our lunch and never looked tired.

Bottom line, O line has to improve to get the run game going to help protect Levi from being himself.

I saw a few mentions of the rcaf card. I have not received my card this year (or any of the other things) and did not receive a card last year

So how exactly am I supposed to take advantage of it if they don't even give me a card lmao

Great breakdown RaginCajun309. I pretty much agree with everything. Far from impressive but we are much better than we looked. I’m content chaulking it up to a classic let down game against a scrappy FCS team after a game against Texas that we were looking forward to all offseason. I fully expect a big win and better performance on Thursday. I think we will feel a lot better about this team after the next couple weeks.

Great take, I agree with 24 points on D winning a lot of games. 38 last week will lose a lot of games.

I also want to give Nicholls a lot more credit.

I think this win will look a lot better as the year moves on.

The cards haven't been sent yet you can download it on the GeauxU app that is what i used. Suggestion when you do that screen shot it to your phone because it is hard to get cell service in the stadium to pull it up.

Good advice. I didn’t have my RCAF card Saturday and didn’t know about the GeauxU app. Just pulled it up, and did a screen shot, because there was zero cell coverage for most of the night Saturday.

Points on the scoreboard is the only stat that counts. Yes, lots of yards but only 24 points. And the pick 6 was from the defense, further making my point the defense did it’s job.

True fact is that our defense is the best it has ever been…. The offensive running game is not working because Levi doesn’t pull down the ball enough on the read option….Our running game takes to long to develop and we don’t have a back like ragas and Mitchell who get tough yards…. I think we have some talented RBs but we have not found it yet…. If Levi won’t run the ball we might as well line up with a FB or HBack and run lead blocking run schemes…our one back system is not getting it done so far this year.

Bottom line is that I spent the day yesterday with the fog-like feeling you get the after you lose a game. During the game I wasn’t ever really worried that we would lose, but kept waiting for us to pull away and put it away, and that didn’t ever happen. Well, after the P6 I kinda thought we would, but once we failed at that time it was clear we would get just a 3 point victory.

Our defense is the best it’s ever been? That’s not a true fact. It’s your opinion and a ____ty one at that. We have given up almost 1000 yards and 62 points in 2 games. While our defense has shown flashes of what it should be we still can’t get off the field on third downs, we can’t cover the seems and we leave the middle of the field wide open for either receivers to run free or QBs to tuck and run. It’s a very frustrating product to watch.
