During head coach Bob Marlin's tenure, 36 athletes have earned academic recognition

Louisiana Basketball placed five athletes on the Sun Belt Conference postseason academic honors lists as announced by the conference office last week.

Junior's Theo Akwuba, Kobe Julien and Trajan Wesley garnered recognition on the 2020-21 SBC Academic Honor Roll while senior Durey Cadwell and freshman Kentrell Garnett earned SBC Commissioners List honors.

It is the second-straight honor roll appearance for Julien and the second-consecutive commissioners list appearance for Cadwell.

The Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who maintained a grade point average (GPA) between 3.00 and 3.49 for the academic year, with the Commissioner's List honoring student-athletes who earned a 3.5 GPA or better during academic year.

The awards continue the tremendous academic success the program has had under 12th year head coach Bob Marlin. Since his arrival in 2010, Marlin's teams have recorded eight of the top 10 grade point averages (GPA) in program history, including the top four marks.

With the additions of Akwuba and Garnett, Marlin has now coached 36 athletes who have made an appearance on either of the respective academic lists.

In total, Louisiana placed 99 student-athletes on the commissioners list and 96 athletes academic honor roll.
