It’s not about points, it’s about possessions. Limiting number of required possessions to stay in the game

But 15 only takes 1 2 point conversion to tie the game. I think he was trying to play the percentages. I don't nessacarily agree with the decision, but I see where he was going.
Obviously making the two point conversion would be a good thing.

For me, going for it early and missing shifts the drama away from the 60 minute mark and ends the game. An EP there keeps it a ball game.

Understood on the possessions point, but look at the counter argument. You go for two and make it, you can WIN the game with two possessions.

I studied A LOT of math and some statistics on my way to a EE degree at UL. There is quite a bit of very interesting math on two point conversions and when to go for it and when to not.

It is akin to playing blackjack. There are very definite mathematic rules that gain you a slight edge versus the house, but ONLY if you play that way 100% of the time.

IMO, for the small advantage Coach Napier is trying to eke out here, he is going to have to be very consistent in his application of the strategy, and remembering one season will still be a very small sample size.

I am not sure I would have the, will/guts/lack of emotion, to do it for a little upside.

And to follow on, a good article from a couple of year ago, think you need to be a subscriber, but not 100% sure.

Conversely, the failed 2pc with gobs of time left takes you completely out of the game.

An extra point keeps you 2 scores away from OT and if you get there you have all the momentum in the world and 5 million tuning in.

Regardless how you feel about the decision of going for 2, the most concerning thing is the play called. LL has never completed that pass. While I'm glad he's our coach, ole Billy still has a lot to learn. Just my 2 cents

    Geaux Cajuns!!!

Remind me what the play was? Corner fade?

Also, we threw it in 4th and 1 in the second. Hate that call. But it worked

  9. UL Football Napier likes where the passing game is after week one

One of the key components of the Cajun offense this season will be how well they can throw the ball around the yard.

The passing game was NOT good. Most of the yards were after the game was decided, not when they counted. Coach speak (although I don't expect anything more really) is frustrating along with our passing game.

I think it was something like 86 yards passing in the 1st half.
