There is no way we are better at this point at the RB position than last year. We might have a bunch of slightly above average guys, but that doesn't make us better. It did not show on the field Saturday, and that is the proof. Can it improve, yes it can, and I hope it does, we shall see.
I had the same feeling. If you want to come out saying "We are going to win this thing" Go for it on that first possession and get that first down on 4th and 1. Last thing we needed to do was go 3 and out on first possession. However, defense did in fact stop them on first drive as well.
If you are going to do an onside kick that early in the 3rd quarter, then we should have had that mindset from the beginning. All out!
Just because we didn’t show out against Texas doesn’t mean they won’t be the strength of this team. We averaged almost 4.2 yards per carry against Texas. We only ran the ball 23 times.
Had we moved the chains and ran it 40 times and threw it 23 times then you wouldn’t be saying that.
This is the same story we keep hearing with LL. He either needs to win with his legs or be sat down for someone who can make those throws to the wide open WR's. Don't you think it is by design to let WR's have space deep if he has not proven he can hit those throws consistently? Surely UT's coaches know this and game planned for it.
LL is a great guy and leader, but the team with him has hit the ceiling and will not consistently beat the App State's and CCU's of the conference much less a Texas or other actual top 25 team. Pull off the band aid and tell LL to either run or sit on the bench.
Reviewing the film of UL’s 38-18 road loss to the Texas Longhorns gave Cajuns’ head coach Billy Napier a few more ideas about his team’s performance.
But his approach to handling the setback was very similar to his postgame reaction after Saturday’s defeat.
"The film doesn't lie. The film is not up to the standards of Ragin' Cajun football."
Billy Napier during Monday's media zoom.
