Texas is more talented at the skill positions than we are. But we were a very dangerous team for them.

Going in I thought we would have to do exactly what they did to us. Have the ability to play keep away. Not allow Bijan or Card to get into rhythm.

Instead our offense failed to execute when the game was close. Which left our defense on the field too long.

The No. 1 concern after the first game is the passing game didn’t make any progress.

A year ago, the story was a young, depleted receiving corps was the reason.

This season, the talent and the depth were upgraded dramatically. It's time to see progress in that area.

Foote is spot on this take

  4. UL Football Third-down struggles contribute to Cajuns loss

The University of Louisiana struggled with third downs.

Billy Napier’s ranked squad converted only four of 13 third-down attempts in Saturday’s season opener at the University of Texas. The Longhorns were far more efficient on offense, converting eight of 15.

I have been asking this question for 3 years. Why can we not throw downfield to push defenders back? Every throw is 5-15 yards.

Its almost impossible with the limitations we have at QB

    Yep
    I TOTALLY AGREE
But be careful when expressing the truth on this board!

I went back and watched the replay. We had receivers running wide open many times. We also didn’t convert a 3rd down till halfway through the 3rd quarter. The defense was gassed as Texas had the ball 11 minutes in the second quarter. It explains why the tackling was so ____ poor. Somehow we were still in the game at half. The offense completely let us down. When we did put together a good drive and scored we got the PAT blocked and then put our defense back in a terrible position with that onside kick. Completely deflated them. This game should have been a one score game. One thing about this team is that they never quit even when being put in bad situations. They may have been gassed but never quit.

My expectations were dashed after the 3rd play of the game. Could have easily ran for the 1st ... instead we Chuck it at the feet of our TE and punt

I had it recorded at the house. Watched it last night when we got back from Austin. There’s also highlights on YouTube.
