Very athletic (was a stellar WR his soph year in high school ... could run away from talented CBs) and throws one of the nicest balls I have seen at the high school level. NFL arm talent ... just needs to add more bulk, which he will. Throws extremely well on the run (buying time), is extremely shifty, and can obviously run the ball. A true dual threat.

I hope we see Thompson. Even though Thompson is more experienced, Card has the potential to do more damage. Card also has the potential, given his inexperience, to make mistakes. If we face Card, I am glad it is in the first game ... because he will be good when he gets playing time under his belt. After watching all of the Lake Travis QBs since 2007, I can say that Card is the best LT has produced (at graduation). Better than Baker Mayfield, Garrett Gilbert, Matthew Baldwin, and the many other D1 QBs QB High has produced.

Here are some highlights from his junior high school season.

The above was precisely why I was concerned and had Texas winning this game by double digits. Too many folks (podcasts, etc.) thought the Texas passing game would be the weak part of their game, something the Cajun defense could exploit. It was not ... in fact it was the opposite. Card has picked up where he left off in high school. It will be interesting to see if he can stay healthy (Ehlinger was beat up often).

That said, I do really like how the Cajuns fared against the Texas running game and how they played overall in the trenches (both sides). I think this bodes well for the remainder of the season. I am not at all concerned.

It will also be interesting to see how Texas fares against the top teams on their schedule. From what I saw Saturday, I think they have a chance to have a very nice season.

You pretty much nailed this one, and I believe the bolded quote by you is spot on as well. If our D-Line can stay healthy all season long, they will be very nasty for us vs. the rest of the schedule. Hell, the front four was pretty nasty for us yesterday, a HUGE bright spot for us from my perspective.

Look we knew things would have to break our way to win. We needed to be + 2 turnovers. Didn’t happen. I think our D played well. Card was good but he is hurting this morning. Disappointed in the offense. I think we will get better and I think the running game will carry us again. Levi is Levi.

Agreed. At the end of the day the offense let us down. That turnover inside their 10 didn’t help either.

I was looking forward to your take before and after the game. I know you have an interest on both sides of the ball, so I expected a really clean take.

I was not disappointed... in your analysis

It frustrates me to no end that Levi refuses to take the open field first down, but at the same time 18 points has literally won thousands and thousands of football games.

Giving up 38 has won very few football games ... relatively speaking.

Dude, in today’s college football, 18 points ain’t winning you many games. Don’t be ignorant (and don’t give me the one example this weekend of GA needing only 10 points for their upset over Clemson).

And…if our offense sustains some drives, even if they don’t score at the end, but can at least give the D Line that played lights out some rest, Texas doesn’t score 38. They very well still score more than 18, but the game is within reach rather than a 20 point loss.

Don't fumble inside the red zone, 1 defensive 3 and out in 2nd Q, this may have been a one score game...but, not living on buts here, reality is we just weren't good enough...

I'm not going to say last year's game with Iowa State was a fluke, but the stars simply aligned for us last year. We had to play an almost perfect game and get some breaks to beat Texas and for them to help us out. Instead, we did not play up to our potential, and they didn't make mistakes.

We need to forget about making a NY6 bowl, and go out and win an outright freaking Sunbelt championship!

Don't hang your hat on the scores this weekend, it is the official weekend of mismatches.

18 points will win 100s of games THIS year.

18 points will not win many games in this day in age. You have to score in the 30s to win consistently.
