Bottom line Texas hand us our ass in the 2nd half… our D missed too many tackles and we let them walk into the end zone…. The D struggles were in part due to us not being able to sustain a drive…. We are battling just to make the conference champ game this year… we have so much talent but have not nearly played to potential…. We will see if we respond the next 2 weeks….. I think we will but damn tonight was humbling of how far off we are….let’s hope we beat app state because I think they beat Miami next week.
Was that one of the best attended road games by Cajun fans that we have seen? The alumni tent bbq food was awesome. Wish we would have brought home a victory but this Cajuns team will be competing for a SBC championship. No doubt in my mind.
Inability to get off field on third down was major issue. I know offense needed to help a little but we had Texas in long yardage situations several times and they still converted. Make a play once or twice in that situation and perhaps game is more competitive. I disagree talent was equal. Longhorns are much more talented at most positions. It is that simple. We play our best and maybe we are within one score. Talked to a former coach after game and he agreed on that point 100 percent. Not to say Texas coaches did not do a good job. They are an improvement over their previous staff.
This time, there was no magic.
There weren’t any long kickoff returns for memorable scores to relish for years to come.
There weren’t any great defensive stands where the Sun Belt secondary played more physically than the Big 12 receiving corps.
I know LL is an experienced senior…but there were times today that I was wondering who had the freshman quarterback

Thoughts:
1. We didn't make enough plays on 3rd down and didn't do enough to prevent Texas from making plays on 3rd down.
2. We can't be a run first team with the production we got from our running backs. We need someone to step up to carry the load.
3. We have talent at wide receiver, we must find a way to get Jalen Williams, Errol Rogers Jr, Kyren Lacy, and Neal Johnson more touches.
4. Play calling on offense was far too predictable. You don't beat Texas with our ineffective play calling.
5. We've made improvements, but we needed help. No turnovers by Texas and no big plays on special teams put us in a difficult spot. Unfortunately, I don't think we were in position on defense to get interceptions.
6. The defense was on the field way too long.
7. Texas adjusted at half time and took over in the 3rd quarter. I'm not sure what we did to adjust at halftime.
8. Levi has limitations in what he can do in the passing game. Those limitations hurt us today. Levi must be more decisive and run when options aren't there. Unfortunately, I don't see this pattern changing.
I’m thinking 18-38 with us -1 in TO.
I think a lot of us, myself included have been drinking too much kool-aid. We are still one of the best G-5 schools out there, but we're never going to have the players to go toe to toe consistently with P-5 schools like Texas with 10x our budget. I'm not going to say last year's game with Iowa State was a fluke, but the stars simply aligned for us last year. We had to play an almost perfect game and get some breaks to beat Texas and for them to help us out. Instead, we did not play up to our potential, and they didn't make mistakes.
We need to forget about making a NY6 bowl, and go out and win an outright freaking Sunbelt championship!
