So, who was it that said we were going to have the best defense ever?
We were a top 19 (tongue in cheek) last year because of the havoc COVID had on teams. At least today’s typical performance will remove us from top 25 talk and people will stop believing the hype. Now we can go back and have fun competing in the 2nd weakest conference in the nation. Napier is good coach, good recruiter on paper, but not much of a play caller. And he’s loyal to a fault. It’s going to take a while to recruit better talent or we may be stuck with 2&3 stars. I just tire of the hype we hear all off-season about the best this and that, and how this or that guy was a steal from the SEC just to see the same ol sloppy play. The hype should stop until this coach and team proves it.
282 yards passing is not to bad even if there were playing catch up
77 yards rushing is atrocious. I was worried about that after putting 2 backs in the NFL.
You guys are ridiculous. Lines held their own. 3rd down conversions by Texas was the difference. Last year against Iowa State we played man and locked up on 3rd downs. Today we played zone on 3rd down and got picked apart. All those extra snaps led to the outcome and poor tackling in the 2nd half as they were gassed. Offense took too long to get going. From a talent standpoint I thought we looked every bit as good as Texas. X’s and O’s let us down. That will improve and we will be fine.
