Think of our Student-Athletes

By my count, there are 54 student-athletes who are from East of Baton Rouge to the state line. All of them have been affected, some possibly seriously, by Ida. This does not include those from Miss and Ala who might get some weather, and does not include new baseball players who were not listed on the website.

Please keep all of them in your thoughts. They have more than sports on their mind right now.

Which makes me think the week 2 game with Nichols will be either postponed or cancelled. I can't see them getting back up to speed in the Houma-Thibodeaux area any time soon. This has been a tough lick, it's just too much to overcome.

Nola isn’t even Entergy’s first priority. Galliano is priority number 1, but I don’t see a way for Galliano to get power without restoring some of Nola at the same time.

All of that is well and good. But the coaches and players need to get their lives together. Some may not have a habitable home. They need to get that in order. Not getting ready for a football game. Not only that the school may not be in any condition to have classes. McNeese was out for a good while after the stuff that happened there last year.

I was told by someone this morning that they were seeing an area of the french quarter still have power, but most of the city is out. They must have multiple feeds into the city or there is a source of power on the east bank.

Luckily Nola isn’t demolished like Katrina did. It is in much better shape than anticipated.

The River Parishes I’m not so sure. LaPlace is pretty bad off from what my friends have said that have flown over.
