Thread: Danny Kannel GUARANTEES Texas Victory

UL Football Danny Kannel GUARANTEES Texas Victory

Driving to work this morning and listening to Sirius XM 84 College Football show. Danny Kannel and his co-host were discussing all of the good match-ups in week 1 and they include a very respectful analysis of the Louisiana v. Texas matchup. Kannel stated the game was not a layup for Texas but that it was must win for Steve Sarkisian and the Texas program. When pressed about whether Texas would win, Danny Kannel "guaranteed" that Texas would win the game.

The talking heads said that the win last year at Iowa State has made Texas focus more on the game than might otherwise have happened. Needless to say that the talking heads of college football have the game circled and will be watching closely.

Per folks we're talking to while prepping for the podcast interviews, news out of camp is not great for their starting QB options. Most around the team are less than impressed..

Kannel can be a shock jock at times.. But please, by all means, give us more motivation..

Sark is coming out of Saban rehab school, im sure he is downplaying the QB situation to not give anything away. Napier would do the same thing.

I’m not worried about their QB situation. I’m worried about their running backs. If they decide to run it down our throats and stick with it we may be in for a long day. Our rushing defense wasn’t exactly stout last year and all those games we won by the skin of our teeth was because the other team decided to start throwing against us instead of continuing to do what was working.

Maybe I should be worried about it but I am not. The Cajuns can’t let the QB and the RB beat them. One or the other, but not both. Their defense isn’t great so we should move fairly well against them. I would want to avoid a shootout. But if the RB gets his yards and that’s all they can do, the Cajuns will win doing what they do…

a good percent of our rushing defensive yards given up was to mobile QB's. we were not bad against RB's

It's a good old fashioned, "circumstance game" that Foote always talks about. Its the first game for a new coach. The deck is already stacked. How we overcome it will tell alot about this program.

Agree. He knows Billy Napier well and will probably not name a starter at QB until game time. The greatest struggle for Coach Sarkisian is changing the culture in Austin. A NFL scout called their program soft and like a country club atmosphere. Sarkisian has begun to change the culture this fall and I expect these two coaches know each other pretty well.

I understand what Kanell is saying. This game will have to unfold perhaps a lot like the ISU game did last year. We'll have to get some timely turnovers and make some big plays whether its through the air or maybe on D/St. Either way, I don't think we'll just control possession all game and score at will. Their running game will be a load for us to handle and if things don't change with Covid, we'll be playing in a hostile environment which is something we didn't have to worry about last year. It makes the win that much tougher.
