After spending 20 years in the broadcast wilderness, I'll never be disappointed about what bowl game we are in.

Larry Coker - 2001 Miami....National Champions - 2002.....Runners UP. From then on, nothing. Nebraska hasn't been relevant since Tom Osborne quit. USC post-Pete Carroll, nada. UCLA - the 80's. The list goes on. Hell, even Texas post Mack Brown hasn't done anything. Talent doesn't get it done. Keeping a good coach and clean program will. A good coach attracts the talent and places them in the right spot for the betterment of the team. A clean program keeps them coming versus chasing them away.
I agree, we wouldn't make a NY6 Bowl if we lost to Texas, but I'm not sure if we would end up in a game like the New Orleans Bowl if we were 12-1. The four times we won in the NOLA Bowl, we were finishing the regular season 8-4, so I think we could end up in something better than that. Just my opinion though.
Tie-ins,tie-ins, tie-ins!!!!!
There is only so much ESPN can do. While the auto SBC tie ins remain the same (NO, Lending Tree, Camellia, Myrtle, Cure), ESPN can move any school to one of the bowls they own.
They can work with some other bowls to try to place a team, but that bowl would have to have an opening because of contractual agreements.
I still can't believe after all these years, we are still talking about a "better bowl." Some may be perceived as better because they're different from what we're used to....but if we go 13-0, we aren't getting in the Outback, Gator, Cheez-It, etc.
