Thread: UL's wide receiving corps now plentiful after injury-plagued 2020 season

  1. UL Football UL's wide receiving corps now plentiful after injury-plagued 2020 season

Consider the two diverse chores given to UL co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Tim Leger over the past two seasons.

As camp began last season, the Cajuns' staff had no idea which wide receivers were going to make plays in the fall.

Can you say loaded at the WR position. Hopefully the QB1 can hit the deep ball this year.

I hope the passing game is schemed a little better. But I’m not sure that will happen within an RPO system.

If Levi uses his legs the way we know he can to keep on some zone read runs, and to get out of the pocket and pick up yardage himself on passing plays, I think the passing game will open up naturally. Defenses will have to make tough choices.

All this guy does is win.

I feel confident that with the help of our great coaching staff, that will continue.

We looked backed into a corner a lot last year on offense

That should definitely change this year. I expect the running game to be down compared to last year, but the passing game should be able to take the offense to the next level. The Cajuns have a whole lot of experience back.

Lots of first year receivers. Hard position to learn. They did a lot better as the year progressed.

Air Bill sounds like a receivers nickname.

I agree with that statement. The passing game complexity should open up some this season, though C4L is correct that a college RPO scheme offense doesn't do that much. The receivers who will be key this year should all now fully understand and be able to execute all the routes and any reads their specific slots require. Guys like Lacey, Rogers and Fleming were at a disadvantage for that due to that with COVID-intricacies that played into summer workouts and beginning Fall camp.
