USA doesn't have a particular coach for relays. They just throw 4 guys together and wing it. They were even talking about switching out runners if they made the final.

Switching out runners in not uncommon. Not spending a lot of practice time working on handoffs for a 4x100 is.

Right but they changed the rules this year. Instead of only being able to switch 2, you can switch all 4 if you want.

The official roster only shows 2 alternates. I realize that doesn't necessarily mean they can't substitute others besides the 6 listed ones, but it seems to be a pretty good indicator.
