That means nothing… what we want is schools committed to growing their athletics brand and majority of the schools in our conference except Monroe are committed to that

Well the writing has long been on the wall four power conferences of 16. We are not being invited to that party.

G-5, all you others, or whatever they call us, that’s where we’re landing. As T pointed out, the AAC is our goal (or whatever it will be called) and we need to be ready. The WAC seems willing to take any warm body as is the A-Sun who is allegedly moving up. We cannot backslide. And we must leave ULM behind if the opportunity arises.

That ESPN upgrade stinks of MACtion. Still better than a dead at the starting gate CUSA tv deal.

And money games will become scarce, if not totally gone.

Money Games won’t be scarce, but I think we are in a unique position with Napier…..if we have another Great year we will be in the UCF, Boise St, Cincy convo…..we need to strike while the iron is hot and keep pushing a head in athletics….I don’t think that the bottom feeders in the BIG 12 are in a better spot than us to make a move to a super conference….KU, K st., Texas tech, don’t offer a lot… TCU, Baylor, West Virginia, and OK State are the most attractive outside of Texas and OU….. It will all depend where we are in football and as an overall athletic program when the shoe drops and if it happens in the next 1-2 years and we sustain this success and still have Napier it would be about as best position as we could put ourselves in… let’s hope the Texas and OU thing doesn’t happen and see if the BIG 12 expands back to 12

Kansas is a cash cow for any conference, Texas Tech was in the final four very recently. Those things called NCAA units are worth far more to any conference than another 8 - 9 win football team.

Basketball does not sell TV contracts like football.

So you'd rather go into a worse conference because it would make better travel for road games? Thanks but no thanks

This ain’t 2001. This program is absolutely in line to move up.

And Denton ain't Dallas.......It is 40-45 miles north of Dallas, it is actually about the same distance from the OK state line as it is to downtown Dallas. Thackerville, OK is on the Red River and it is only 40 miles north of Denton.

You know you can visit San Antonio, Dallas and Houston anytime you want right? You don’t need UL in CUSA to visit those “destinations”

You may be right, but the $30M or so year that Kansas basketball generates just through ticket sales alone is something.

Also men’s basketball is a huge reason why our athletic department isn’t viewed in the same light as most of the AAC schools.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Maggart and the position he put us in. All of you who were screaming for Farmer's head were right all along. But I have some questions:

What, if anything, is the department doing to help us command a larger share of our local market?

Are there initiatives to take back the Lafayette area from LSU and to expand our reach to dominate Acadiana and beyond?

What arguments are we making to fans and football lovers that we should be their first choice on Saturdays?

I ask these questions because we will not be attractive to an upgrade conference until we can show that we offer butts in seats and eyeballs on TV screens.

There must be some movement or belief in movement in all of those directions as I doubt that OLOL would have made the commitment which they recently made unless they felt that the community who they market to is on board with the University.

These last two posts are exactly right... ALL areas have to be covered... all the leaders of government need to talk it up on TV and radio plus get their butts to the games.... public and private schools need to have a huge UL push with communications to parents to get the FAMILIES to the games... shut the work places down at 12 on game days... student give a ways... now since this is a contributing board, how about some more ideas!
