Thread: OUUT! ... OU, UT to join SEC

Food for thought…even with let’s say, 4 super conferences taking 64 teams, that really doesn’t change much at the top…same pecking order, roughly same number of teams. No change there for UL.

The impact to what is now the G5 will be perceived and pressure from the bottom with the flood of move ups that’s already occurring. When and how UL reacts is the issue.

Bigger isn’t better in the non power conference world. CUSA is a prime example even before they got their dumpster fire commissioner. Just because you have a bunch of teams doesn’t mean the tv rights increase in a per team manner.

Furthermore, nobody is getting “kicked out” any conference as expressed on other message boards.

No way Missouri leaves the SEC.

We would compete with everyone left in the Big 12(9), just like we do now in the 'BELT. Without ou and texas, we can compete for championships there as well. Heck, we have the talent to play with ou and texas now and WIN!!!

Why are we in the hunt and what are our credentials in the academic, population, enrollment, attendance, facilities and performance compared to the field? Been needing an update for a long time!

Big 12 will die because the new TV contract will be absolute crap. Iowa state to big 10 Kansas to the Big East and WV to the ACC all make sense.

Would Iowa want Iowa State in the BIG? And of what benefit is it to the conference to add them? I'm still not sure the other conference will need to react if the SEC does expand.

With a $35 Million athletic budget? We’d be in the “#1 package”?

With the TV contracts on the line you have to do something or risk being the PAC-12

The PAS-12 has a lousy tv package because they have a lousy commissioner. The same cannot be said about the BIG or the ACC. Plus, with their populations, especially the BIG, there shouldn't be a problem negotiating a good tv contract.
Plus Iowa State and WV do little to add to the contract. They are not powerhouse teams and have small populations... especially Iowa State doesn't add anything since Iowa is already in the conference.

Iowa state adds basketball power and an instate rivalry for Iowa.. Adds more than Rutgers or a Illinois.

Iowa/ISU play every year in football. There is a tremendous rivalry between them but not a disfunctional one like Texas/A&M. If the B1G is gonna expand to keep up with SEC and the tv money then ISU is better fit than anyone outside Nortre Dame.

No, only LaSU opinion counts. That is why there would NEVER be another LA school in the SEC. Tulane was stupid for leaving the SEC.

Boomer, you have nothing to apologize for whatsoever. You are right, this is a discussion board, and your question was legit.

Tulane and it's fans like to spout that Tulane is a bastion of knowledge, intellect and the Harvard of the South! Yet, those geniuses made probably the worst decision in the history of NCAA athletics when they chose to leave the SEC! What a bunch of idiots!
