Louisiana Soccer Releases 2021 Schedule

A five-match homestand that features in-state foe LSU, matches against a pair of teams that participated in the NCAA Championships this past spring and three consecutive road matches against schools from the Southeastern Conference highlight the 2021 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Soccer schedule, head coach Lance Key announced on Tuesday.

Lots of new names and faces on the roster.

Gwen will be missed in the backfield, but we are adding the Hatian national. Hopefully she can be as dominant as Gwen.

Lizzy Mayfield returns providing experience as a forward and scorer, and Lauren Starwood played a lot of minutes last year as goalkeeper.

Hopefully, the newcomers are more talented than those they are replacing. We shall see.

Wayne, it looks like they are going to be really deep in the goal.

They get back a senior that was a projected starter last year, but only played in 4 games because of injury in Jordan Higgins. She was 2-2-0 in those games.

Then they get back the backup who started the games when Higgins was out in Lauryn Starwood. Starwood was 8-5-1 in her games in the net.

Then they add a transfer from Akron in Libby Harper, all she did at Akron was become MAC Freshman of the Year, she had 20 starts in 24 games for Akron.

Then they have a Freshman from San Antonio in Reese Keller who was a 2 time All District player in San Antonio.

The top 3 ladies will battle it out for the starting job, but seems like all 3 are capable of being very good goaltenders.

Out of those 3, I've only seen Starwood play, and she looked very impressive as a true freshman. I would agree that they should be pretty deep there at goal.
